SoFi Stadium, Inglewood & the Los Angeles Super Bowl Weekend

Super Bowl LXI lands at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on Sunday, February 14, 2027. The venue is already a global-event machine, but the bigger story is the district around it: Hollywood Park, a transformed Inglewood sports-and-entertainment corridor, LAX a few miles west, and a Los Angeles hotel market where choosing the right neighborhood can matter more than shaving five miles off a map.

One thing the old page got spectacularly tangled: this is Super Bowl LXI, not LIX. The participating teams, exact kickoff time, halftime headliner and official Super Bowl week event lineup are still not confirmed on this page and should not be invented before the NFL announces them.

Los Angeles is getting the Super Bowl back only five years after SoFi Stadium hosted Super Bowl LVI in 2022. For the region, 2027 carries extra symbolism: it will be the ninth Super Bowl hosted by the greater Los Angeles area and arrives 60 years after Super Bowl I was played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in January 1967.

Why SoFi Stadium Is Different

SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, venue for Super Bowl LXI 2027

SoFi is not simply a football stadium with a roof dropped on top. It is the centerpiece of Hollywood Park and was designed as a large-scale indoor-outdoor venue capable of moving between NFL games, concerts and global events. The building itself covers roughly 3.1 million square feet, seats about 70,000 for a standard configuration and can expand toward 100,000 for major events.

🏟️ About 70,000 seats

Expandable for major events, with more than 260 suites and more than 13,000 premium seats.

β˜€οΈ Indoor-outdoor design

The stadium has a fixed roof, with a large transparent ETFE portion that lets daylight and sky remain visible while the venue stays protected.

πŸ–₯️ Infinity Screen

The center-hung dual-sided videoboard spans roughly 70,000 square feet and uses nearly 80 million pixels.

The roof is part of the experience

SoFi's roof is fixed, but it does not behave visually like a conventional enclosed dome. A substantial section is transparent ETFE, giving the bowl daylight and an open-air feeling while maintaining the shelter and environmental control of a roofed venue. That matters in February because weather becomes less of a game-day wildcard than it would be in an uncovered stadium.

The Infinity Screen is ridiculous in the best possible way

Suspended above the field is Samsung's dual-sided Infinity Screen. It is not a giant TV stapled to the ceiling. The board is shaped so spectators in lower and upper levels receive different viewing surfaces, and it supports 4K end-to-end production. For a spectacle built around instant replay, graphics, halftime production and broadcast presentation, it is almost another piece of architecture.

You can tour the stadium before Super Bowl weekend

SoFi operates public behind-the-scenes tours that can include premium suites, team locker rooms, player tunnel, field-level experiences and other stadium spaces. For travelers arriving in Los Angeles before the heavy Super Bowl-week schedule begins, the tour can be a surprisingly useful way to understand the scale of the building before game day.

2027 Is Also a Story About Inglewood

Los Angeles and Inglewood guide for Super Bowl LXI 2027

Older Los Angeles travel advice often treated Inglewood as somewhere you passed through on the way to LAX. That is badly out of date. The area around Prairie Avenue and Century Boulevard has become one of Southern California's densest sports-and-entertainment districts.

SoFi sits inside Hollywood Park, a nearly 300-acre destination that now combines the stadium with American Airlines Plaza, the 6,000-seat YouTube Theater, parks, restaurants, retail and year-round programming. Hollywood Park's current development materials describe 25 acres of parks and roughly 12 miles of walkable trails across the larger district.

A few blocks away, Intuit Dome opened as the LA Clippers' new home and added another 18,000-seat arena to the Inglewood corridor. Add the Kia Forum nearby and the result is no longer β€œthe stadium area.” It is an entertainment district with several major venues operating almost on top of one another.

What this means for Super Bowl travelers: Inglewood is the obvious choice when your priority is reducing game-day distance. It is not automatically the best choice for every other night of the trip. If your restaurants, parties, meetings or sightseeing are mostly in Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood or Downtown LA, your hotel decision should reflect the entire weekend rather than one Sunday afternoon.

Use the map to understand the compact Inglewood venue cluster and its relationship to LAX. It is an orientation tool, not a prediction of Super Bowl-specific traffic controls.

Where Should You Stay for Super Bowl LXI?

There is no single β€œbest” Los Angeles hotel area. The right base depends on what you are optimizing: game-day proximity, beach access, nightlife, luxury, airport convenience or a weekend packed with events across the city.

Game-Day First

πŸ“ Inglewood / LAX

Best when SoFi access and airport convenience are the priorities. You sacrifice some classic LA vacation atmosphere but reduce the distance you need to cover on the most logistically complicated day.

Coast + Walkability

🌊 Santa Monica

A strong choice for travelers who want beach, restaurants and a more walkable base around the non-game days. It is farther from SoFi, so transportation must be planned rather than improvised.

Luxury + Nightlife

✨ Beverly Hills / West Hollywood

Useful for premium hotels, dining, lounges and private events. This is the β€œmake the entire weekend feel like an occasion” strategy, not the β€œwalk to the stadium” strategy.

City Events

πŸŒ† Downtown Los Angeles

Works well when the itinerary includes downtown venues, nightlife or business events. The distance to SoFi is manageable on a normal map and much less predictable once Super Bowl traffic joins the conversation.

Beach + South Bay

πŸ–οΈ Manhattan Beach / South Bay

A quieter coastal alternative with good access to LAX and the South Bay. It can work especially well for travelers who want ocean time without basing the entire trip on Santa Monica.

🧭 Split-Stay Strategy

For longer trips, one or two nights closer to the stadium followed by a coastal or Westside stay can reduce game-day friction without forcing the entire vacation to revolve around Inglewood.

Getting to SoFi Stadium Without Losing Your Mind

The biggest planning mistake is treating SoFi like an ordinary Sunday NFL game. Super Bowl-specific traffic, security and transportation plans will be published closer to the event, but the stadium's current NFL operations already tell us what kind of strategy works.

πŸš‡ Metro + stadium shuttle

For current Rams and Chargers games, LA Metro directs riders to the C or K Line, exiting at the LAX/Metro Transit Center, where a free SoFi Stadium Express shuttle operates for NFL games and selected events. That system may be adapted for Super Bowl LXI, so confirm the official 2027 plan before relying on exact times or stops.

πŸš— Parking is not something to β€œfigure out when you get there”

SoFi describes onsite NFL parking as extremely limited and recommends advance purchase. There is no event street parking inside Hollywood Park and no event parking permitted in surrounding Inglewood residential neighborhoods. Remote park-and-ride services are another normal part of the stadium's transportation system.

πŸš• Rideshare has controlled access points

Current stadium operations route rideshare and taxi traffic through Kareem Court, with pickup around Kareem Court and Manchester Boulevard. Super Bowl traffic plans may modify those details, but the lesson is simple: do not assume your driver can pull up to whichever gate happens to be closest to your seat.

✈️ LAX is genuinely nearby

The stadium district is only a few miles from Los Angeles International Airport, which makes Inglewood/LAX hotels strategically useful for short trips. The cruel little joke of Los Angeles is that physical distance and travel time are not the same thing, especially around major events.

A Smarter Super Bowl Weekend Plan

Thursday / Friday

Arrive before the heaviest weekend traffic, settle into your hotel area and use the first nights for dining, concerts or city plans.

Saturday

Keep the schedule flexible. A stadium tour, fan experience or neighborhood day is safer than stacking distant reservations across Los Angeles.

Sunday

Make the Super Bowl the only mission. Leave early, know your transportation plan and do not build a heroic cross-city brunch reservation into the morning.

If you are staying several nights after the game, that is when Los Angeles becomes easier to enjoy. Santa Monica, Malibu, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, DTLA, museums, studio tours and coastal drives all work better once the world's largest football event stops trying to occupy the same roads as you.

Confirmed Future Super Bowl Hosts

The old version of this article listed several future hosts that were no longer correct. As of this update, these are the next confirmed host sites announced by the NFL:

LXII2028Atlanta, GAMercedes-Benz Stadium
LXIII2029Las Vegas, NVAllegiant Stadium

No 2031 host is listed here until the NFL formally announces one. Future-host tables are not improved by clairvoyance.
